    5. Wellness Director

    The Troy Family Branch is seeking a dynamic individual to fill the position of Wellness Director. The Capital District YMCA wants all interested applicants to know they are seeking a diverse workforce and are actively recruiting candidates in accordance with diversity, inclusion and equal opportunity policies.  Under the general direction of the Director of Operations, the Wellness Director manages the health and wellness department, which includes the wellness center, wellness programs and services and aerobics programs.  This includes staff and budget management, as well as program and service development and oversight with member retention as a primary goal.

     

    Job Requirements

    BA/BS in Physical Ed, Recreation, Sports Management, Health Ed or a related field or equivalent experience.  Two years’ experience with budget management, staff supervision, and program development preferred.  Current CPR/First Aid and wellness certification preferred (YMCA or other), as well as trainer certifications.  Excellent human relation skills, good organizational and communication skills.  Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of the YMCA.  The ability to articulate and model YMCA’s four core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibilities are essential.

     

    Principal Responsibilities:

    Develop annual operating objectives and plan for the Health and Wellness Department.  Monitor the achievement of these objectives, taking appropriate action to ensure they are met.  Develop, monitor and administer annual budget (income and expense) for the Department.  Ensure that the department maintains a positive fiscal position.   Manage all Wellness and Group Exercise staff and volunteers – recruit, hire, train, develop, supervise and evaluate.  This includes following all policies, procedures and timeframes of the association.  Plan, develop, implement and evaluate a full range of health and wellness programs and services, including Aerobics for all ages and abilities, Wellness Center Services including new member orientation, wellness and lifestyle workshops, personal training programs, wellness evaluations and exercise adherence activities., health and wellness programs and workshops, dance, weight management, yoga, martial arts, massage therapy and running club.  Ensure the proper care and maintenance of the Wellness Center and Aerobics Facility, equipment and supplies.  Special projects, as assigned Maintain cleanliness of facility as a member of Clean Team.  All other duties as needed.

    3. Director of Annual Giving Job Opening

    The Capital District YMCA is seeking a Director of Annual Giving full time at the Administration office in Colonie. Under the general direction of the Sr. Vice President of Business Development the incumbent is responsible for the coordination of the annual giving campaign as well as assisting with special events (The President’s Award Dinner, Annual Golf Tournament, Black and Latino Achievers Dinner) for the Capital District YMCA. Provide assistance on all administrative and financial functions, relative to Capital Campaigns and Board Committees.

    Know How:

    BA/BS degree in Marketing, Business Administration or related field preferred; 3-5 years’ experience coordinating annual giving programs and special events. Demonstrated administrative skills in support annual campaigns and special events.  Excellent written and oral communications, computer proficiency, time management, attention to detail and problem solving skills.  Must have the ability to balance multiple priorities in a decentralized environment.  The ability to work closely and cooperatively with senior management and branch staff, volunteers, members by delivering quality customer service in a professional manner which emphasizes quality in all aspects of the work of the YMCA. Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of the YMCA and its capacity to build strong kids, families and communities.  The ability to articulate and model YMCA’s four core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibilities are essential.

    Responsibilities:

    In conjunction with the Sr. Vice President of Business Development, develop, implement and evaluate association-wide annual campaign.  Establish a time-line for achieving campaign objectives; and ensure prospect contacts.  Lead and coordinate association-wide planning, tracking, kickoff and victory celebration, and evaluation of campaign and donor recognition.  Provide staff leadership and support for the annual campaign branch coordinators by: ensuring that prospects are reviewed and assigned, and that executive staff and volunteers receive assistance and that all contacts are completed.  Coordinate the campaign training materials and activities to help volunteers and branch staff effectively carry out the strategies of the campaign.  In conjunction with the MIS department, provide training in the use and implementation of computer systems to promote campaign activities.  Direct and/or assist in the administration of association-wide corporate and branch special events, i.e.: Annual Golf Tournament, President’s Award Dinner and branch specific fundraisers, etc. to ensure the best representation of the YMCA to the public.  Maintain records to assure regular, accurate, informative communication with all donors and prospects.

    Provide support to Senior Vice President of Business Development for association wide Capital Campaigns and board committee assignments (Financial Development and Endowment).  Assistance with board events such as the Heritage Club Dinner.  All other duties, as requested and assigned.

    Effect on End Result:

    The satisfactory performance of the incumbent will result in timely and high quality administrative management of the function of the Association’s annual support campaign and special events. 

    Physical Requirements:

    This work requires the following physical activities: climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing, and visual acuity.  The work is performed primarily indoors, and may require occasional travel to the various branches/sites of the Capital District YMCA.

    2. Aquatics Director

    The Guilderland Area Branch of the Capital District YMCA is looking to fill a full time position of Aquatics Director. Under the general direction of the Executive Director, the Aquatics Director manages the aquatics department, which includes the operation of the pool, aquatics programs, staff and budget management, youth and adult swim teams and special events.

    Job Requirements

    • ·       BA/BS in Physical Ed, Recreation, Sports Mgt, Health Ed or a related field preferred or equivalent experience.
    • ·       Minimum of two years’ experience in an aquatics program.
    • ·       Minimum two years’ experience managing staff. 
    • ·       Current certifications in CPR and First Aid.
    • ·       Current aquatic certifications (YMCA or Red Cross)
    • ·       Excellent human relation skills, good organizational and communication skills.
    • ·       Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of the YMCA and its capacity to build strong kids, families and communities. The ability to articulate and model YMCA’s four core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibilities are essential.

    4. Plan, develop, implement and evaluate a full range of aquatic programs and services, including swim instruction, all ages and abilities; youth and adult swim team programs; publicity plan and schedule as it relates to the promotion of the Aquatics Department including press releases, brochures, PR and advertising
    5. Participate and support all CDY special events and fund raising activities, including Reach out for Youth, annual membership campaign, branch fundraisers and open houses.
    6. Ensure the proper care and maintenance of the aquatic facility, equipment and supplies used in all programs under his/her responsibility.
    7. Serve as staff representative to the branch Program Committee, CDYMCA Aquatics P-Group and other committees, as requested.
    8. Ensure all Aquatic Department Operations are consistent with the Association procedures. This includes safety, insurance, incident/accident reports, purchasing, HR and Payroll procedures, accounting, P-Group standards and maintains appropriate logs and records.
    9. Maintain cleanliness of facility as a member of Clean Team.
    10. All other duties, as directed.
