华社翻新工程进展更新

华社翻新工程于2026年1月22日取得Colonie Town开工许可，于1月26日正式开工。目前工程进展顺利，各阶段施工均已通过town现场检查。

昨日完成了关键工程：拆除大厅原有四根柱子，并成功安装 36英尺、重2000多磅的主钢梁及支撑立柱，该项目也已顺利通过检查验收。

接下来将进行大厅吊顶、电线与照明安装、部分墙面和地板修复以及整体油漆等工作。预计工程还需约3–4周完成。

装修完成后，华社大厅将更加宽敞、明亮、焕然一新，为各俱乐部和社区活动提供更好的场地。

Update on the CCC Renovation Project

The long-planned renovation project received the construction permit from the Town of Colonie on January 22 and officially began on January 26. Since construction started, the project has been progressing smoothly, and every stage of the work has successfully passed the Town of Colonie’s inspections.

Yesterday marked one of the most critical steps of the renovation: the removal of the four columns in the main hall and the installation of a 36-foot main steel beam weighing over 2,000 pounds, along with the supporting column for the beam. This major installation has also successfully passed the Town of Colonie’s inspection.

The remaining work will include completing the ceiling in the main hall, electrical wiring and lighting installation, repairing portions of the walls and flooring, and painting. The renovation is expected to take another three to four weeks to complete.

Once finished, the community center will have a more spacious and refreshed environment, providing a much better venue for clubs and community activities.

The Sound of Asia Piano Competition has come to a joyful and successful close. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all participants for their dedication, artistry, and inspiring performances. Each pianist brought not only technical excellence, but also musical sensitivity, courage, and a genuine love for sharing their voice through music. The stage was filled with beautiful moments that reflected the hard work of students, teachers, and families alike.

What makes the Sound of Asia Competition truly unique is its special focus on the rich and diverse repertoire of Asian composers. While many competitions center primarily on Western classical traditions, Sound of Asia was created to celebrate the musical heritage, colors, and cultural stories of Asia. Through this platform, young musicians have the opportunity to explore distinctive musical languages, connect with broader cultural perspectives, and help bring these meaningful works to a wider audience.

We hope this event serves not only as a competition, but also as a growing artistic movement. We warmly encourage all students and teachers to continue discovering, performing, and sharing the music of Asian composers. Your participation helps these voices be heard, appreciated, and carried forward to future generations. We look forward to welcoming you again next year as we continue our journey to celebrate the beauty, diversity, and spirit of Asian piano music.

CCC Launches Youth & Family Mental Health Peer Advocate Program

CCC is excited to announce a new Youth and Family Mental Health Peer Advocate Training Program, aimed at empowering community members to support youth and families facing mental health challenges.

This initiative invites youth, parents, and community members who are passionate about mental health and community wellbeing to become trained peer advocates. Participants will receive professional training, develop practical support skills, and gain opportunities to make a meaningful impact in the community.

Who Can Apply

CCC is currently recruiting:

• Youth Peer Advocates (ages 18–30) with lived mental health experience
• Family Peer Advocates who are parents or caregivers supporting children facing mental health challenges
• Community members who are compassionate, eager to learn, and interested in supporting others
• Bilingual or multilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply

Training Benefits

Participants will gain professional skills and receive stipends as they progress through the credentialing pathway:

• Step 1: Complete Level 1 Credentialing – $250 stipend
• Step 2: Earn Provisional Credential – $500 stipend
• Step 3: Begin Employment as Peer Advocate – $1,500 stipend

The program is supported through the New York State Peer Advocates Workforce Development Initiative and implemented in partnership with Vanderheyden and the New York State Office of Mental Health.

Community members interested in becoming advocates or learning more are encouraged to attend the information session.

Rising Professionals: The Relaunch of YPC(青春飞扬，重启之旅)

On January 8th of 2026, the Chinese Community Center (CCC) - Young Professionals Club （YPC） hosted a New Year’s Welcome Party. The event marked the club’s first gathering since becoming inactive in 2020, celebrating a long-awaited reunion and the vibrant relaunch of YPC.

2026年1月8日，华社Young Professionals Club（简称 YPC）举办了一场新年聚会。这次活动是 YPC 自2020年暂停活动以来的第一次线下聚会，开启了俱乐部重建之旅。

College students and young professionals across a range of fields came together to meet new people, connect with the local community, and celebrate the start of the new year. Attendees represented industries from engineering and computing to medicine and biosciences, and included students from colleges such as RPI, Stony Brook, and NYU.

The evening kicked off with food and casual conversation as everyone got to know each other over pizza, homemade mulled wine, and desserts. Members shared hobbies and New Year’s resolutions, many of which (unsurprisingly!) involved getting healthier in 2026.

当晚来自RPI，Stony Brook，NYU等学校的大学生和各行各业的年轻职场人士聚到了一起，吃吃喝喝，轻松聊天，气氛很热闹。大家一边享受披萨，甜点和会员自制的热红酒，一边分享自己的兴趣爱好和新年愿望。说到新年目标，果然少不了那几样最常见的：要更健康，要多运动，要减肥。

The club also hosted an informational session on the NYS Youth Peer Advocates Credential, encouraging students and young professionals to support peers experiencing mental health challenges and help strengthen our community together.

此外，YPC还安排了NYS Youth Peer Advocates Credential的简单介绍，鼓励大家互相支持，帮助正在经历心理健康挑战的同伴。

As the night went on and everyone settled in, the group moved into board games, laughter, and debate. A variety of games were available throughout the room, and two crowd favorites quickly emerged: Uno and Trial by Trolley. One table filled with fast-paced chaos, while the other sparked comedic trolley-problem debates.

自我介绍和吃饭之后，大家就进入了桌游时间。我们准备了各种游戏，大家自由组队，换桌玩，笑声不断。其中最受欢迎的两款是UNO和Trial by Trolley。一桌投入在UNO 的“混战”，另一桌则是围绕电车难题展开的爆笑辩论，讨论到停不下来。

纽约首府华社为Mary Chen（凌曼立）举办退休庆祝会

2025年12月6日中午，华社在温馨与感动的氛围中，为服务社区超过五十年的Mary Chen女士举办了一场温暖的退休庆祝会。众多社区会员、志愿者、朋友齐聚一堂，共同向这位将半生心血倾注于华人社区的杰出女性致敬。

活动于中午12点开始，与会者首先享用了华社准备的午餐，并欣赏了一段幻灯片（点击右键打开链接），回顾 Mary 多年来在社区的工作点滴。随后，Mary 与她先生长期参与的华社合唱团，为她献上了温暖而深情的歌曲，表达对她多年来付出的敬意与祝福，现场气氛温暖感人。

在致辞环节中，Lee-Hua Miaw 首先为大家带来了关于Mary生平与贡献的介绍（点击右键打开链接），分享了她几十年来坚守岗位、服务社区的动人故事。接着，华社社长Yunxiao Zhang（点击右键打开链接）与华社房屋管理主管Jianzhong Tang（点击右键打开链接）分别发表了致辞，肯定 Mary 对社区发展所做出的卓越贡献。

华社向Mary颁发了“服务华社五十年志愿者奖章”，并精心制作了一本影集，将Mary和Xiangming五十年来参与华社各项活动的珍贵照片，从青年时代一路记录至今。同时，大家与Mary的合影、真挚的祝福和温暖的话语也一并收录其中，作为一份承载深情与记忆的礼物，送给Mary珍藏。

活动中最令人动容的部分，是 Mary 的朋友以及社区的老成员们依次上台分享（点击右键打开链接）他们与 Mary 的真实故事和感人回忆。无论是诗歌朗读，还是亲身经历的讲述，都让现场多次响起掌声，不少来宾潸然泪下。大家一致表示，Mary 不仅是社区的中流砥柱，也是大家的榜样，她的善良、坚持和奉献精神深深影响了几代人。

在赠礼环节，社区成员为 Mary 准备了纪念品，表达对她多年奉献的感谢与祝福。活动尾声，大家共同切蛋糕庆祝，并拍下了珍贵的合影，为这场充满温情与敬意的聚会画上圆满的句号。

五十多年来，Mary Chen 用爱心、专业与奉献精神，为华人社区留下了不可磨灭的印记。华社全体成员向 Mary 送上最真挚的祝福，并期待她在未来的日子里继续健康、快乐、充实。

〖Mary Chen 人物简介〗

Mary Chen（中文名凌曼立）出生于一个深具学术传统的家庭，她的父亲凌纯声博士是著名民族学家、中国民族学的奠基者之一。耳濡目染之下，Mary 自幼勤奋、严谨、谦和稳重，延续了凌家的学术精神与家风。

20世纪60年代，Mary 与丈夫陈湘明来到Albany。她在纽约州立大学取得硕士学位后长期在纽约州图书馆任职，其认真负责的工作态度及温暖的待人方式广受赞誉。70年代起，Mary 积极参与华社事务，并成为华社最重要的骨干力量之一。无论是早期资源匮乏的年代，或华社后来发展的每一个阶段，都能看到她忙碌的身影。自 2006 年起，Mary 担任华社的 building manager，负责华社房屋管理、维修协调、日常事务等无数琐碎却关键的工作。她在最艰难的时期挺身而出，保持华社的环境整洁、运作顺畅，是社区不可或缺的守护者。除了行政与管理工作，Mary 还参与组织春晚、秋季郊游、夏季野餐、社区清洁日、老人联欢活动等众多项目，她几十年如一日地投入时间与精力，常常默默付出、不计辛劳。从 1976 年起，Mary 也是华社合唱团的重要成员之一，四十多年坚持参加排练与演出，为社区带来无数温暖而动人的音乐时刻。

Mary 投入华社超过 50 年，倾注心血、无私奉献，是社区最受爱戴的人之一。她用行动诠释了什么是责任、坚持与仁爱，是几代华人心中的榜样。华社深深感谢她半个世纪的奉献，并祝福她未来平安健康、幸福喜乐。

Miss China Xiuyi Hu wins Miss Festival of Nations!

热烈祝贺我们2025-26年度华社中国小姐Miss China胡修谊，在第54届万国会（Festival of Nations）中，荣获冠军，加冕万国会小姐 Miss Festival of Nations！修谊从二十位来自不同国家与文化背景的优秀佳丽中脱颖而出，为中华文化赢得掌声！

华社为她感到自豪，期待她继续以智慧与优雅，向更多人展现中华之美，为弘扬中华文化与促进多元文化交流贡献力量!

15岁的胡修谊是 Saratoga Springs High School 的高二学生。她多才多艺，擅长踢踏舞、射箭、游泳、爵士与古典钢琴、小提琴，并是国家级跆拳道选手。除学业与才艺外，她还热爱刺绣、健身与社区服务。胡修谊对法律与政治学充满兴趣，希望将学术热情与领导力、国际视野相结合。

Congratulations to our 2025–26 Miss China, Xiuyi Hu, for being crowned Miss Festival of Nations at the 54th Festival of Nations! She shined among twenty talented contestants from different countries and cultures, bringing pride and recognition to Chinese culture.

We’re so proud of Xiuyi! May she continue to share the beauty of Chinese culture with wisdom and elegance, and champion a spirit of unity by fostering understanding and cultural exchange throughout the capital region.

Xiuyi Hu, age 15, is a sophomore at Saratoga Springs High School. A talented and well-rounded student, she is a skilled tap dancer, archer, swimmer, jazz and classical pianist, violinist, and a national taekwondo competitor. Beyond her artistic and athletic pursuits, Xiuyi enjoys embroidery, working out, and community service. With strong interests in law and political science, she hopes to combine her academic curiosity with leadership and global awareness.

026 Lunar New Year Gala 春节晚会 Performance Submission 征集节目

The 2026 Year of the Horse Spring Festival Gala is scheduled for Sunday, February 8th, 2:30-5pm, at the Proctors Theatre - Main Stage.

The Chinese Community Center is publicly inviting performance submissions, with the following requirements:

1. The themes of the performances should be healthy and uplifting, including but not limited to singing, dancing, storytelling, and musical instruments.

2. The performances should relate to Chinese culture.

Registration Steps:

1. Please send an email as soon as possible to express your intention to participate: event@cccalbany.org, with the subject line titled “Year of the Horse Spring Festival”.

2. After that, please prepare your performance and submit the music by the deadline of November 9, 2025.

3. Finally, please attend the in-person audition on November 16, 2025, at the community center, located at 11 Avis Dr, Latham, NY 12110, exact time to be announced after submissions received.

CCC Building Renovation 华社楼房建筑翻新

Chinese Community Center Building Renovation Project

September 2025

We are please to announce that the Chinese Community Center facility will be undergoing renovation. This project aims to make the center more functional, and provide an improved space for cultural and educational activities that benefit all our members and the community. The scope of renovation project is as follows:

Removal of existing columns to open up space in assembly area:

1, Remove the four existing columns in the assembly area; install a steel beam designed to span the length of the room, and two concrete footing at the two end to support the steel beam;

2, Demolish the existing office in the assembly area, to free up valuable space for the hall, so to make the assembly area one congruent space.

3, Seal the existing door opening to the small classroom facing the assembly hall, replace the seal opening with another opening at the west side corner of the same wall.

4, Install a wall mirror between the two doors on the rear conference room with proper protection for mirror.

Improve the ceiling and lighting for the entire building

1, Remove old ceiling tiles from the assembly area, maximize the ceiling height. Install new acoustic ceiling tiles;

2, Upgrade the rest area with new acoustic ceiling tiles;

3, Upgrade lighting for the entire building;

Remodel the Storage area on the East side:

1, Build a wall to the area adjacent to the library to create a small class room;

2, Enlarge the storage cabinet space;

3, Expand the existing dressing storage room by removing the wall between the storage and the adjacent , and installing a wall between the new storage and the xerox room.

Renovation Progress and budget

The building renovation project is currently at the bidding stage. We have sent the renovation blueprint and scope of work to several construction companies. The deadline for submitting bids is the end of September. After reviewing the bids, one company will be select to carry out the renovation. Once a contractor is chosen, we will apply for the necessary renovation permit from Colonie Town. Construction work is expected to begin after the Lunar New Year of 2026, once the permission is obtained.

The expenses for this project will be covered mainly by generous in-kind contribution from CCC members, sponsorship, and $100,000 Federal funding. However, additional donations are always welcome. If you would like to support the project, please donate, make your check payable to CCC. and please indicate “for CCC renovation”, and leave it in CCC mail box. Thank you!

我们兴奋地宣布，华社纽约首府华社即将进行内部翻新。本项目旨在提升中心的使用功能性，为所有会员及华人社区提供更优质的文化教育活动空间。翻新工程范围如下：

拆除大厅现有柱体以拓宽集会区空间：

1. 拆除集会区四根现有立柱；安装横跨房间长度的钢梁，并在两端设置混凝土基座支撑钢梁；

2. 拆除集会区现有办公室，释放宝贵空间用于大厅，使集会区形成统一空间。

3. 封堵面向集会厅的小教室现有的门，于同一墙体西侧转角处开辟新的门；

4. 在大厅后排会议室两扇门之间安装墙面镜，并配备镜面防护装置。

提升大厅建筑天花板，改善整栋房的天花板及照明系统:

1. 拆除集会区旧天花板，最大化层高，安装新型吸音天花板；

2. 其余房区间升级为新型吸音天花板；

3. 全房区照明系统升级改造；

东侧储藏区改造：

1. 在图书馆侧面增建隔墙，形成小型教室；

2. 扩建储物柜空间；

3. 拆除现有服装储藏室与相邻办公室之间的隔墙，并在新括增服装储藏区与复印室间增设隔墙。

改造工程进度与预算:

建筑改造项目现处于招标阶段。我们已向多家建筑公司发送了改造蓝图及工程范围说明。投标截止日期为九月底。评审投标书后，将选定一家公司实施改造工程。确定承包商后，我们将向Colonie town镇政府申请必要的改造许可。预计施工将于2026年农历新年后启动。

本项目经费主要来源于华社会员的慷慨捐赠、商家的赞助款项及10万美元联邦拨款。同时欢迎各界及各为人士追加捐助。如您欲支持本项目，请捐款支票抬头注明“CCC”，注明改造工程捐赠，放入华社信箱。谢谢!

华社夏天中国文化季

中国的传统文化，经过几千年的洗练，有其独到的底蕴和存在价值。生活忙碌的海外华人，也需要一个平台来体验并重新学习自己先辈积累下来的财富，并传承给年轻人。

华社推出2024夏天中国文化季，6-8月三个月，共开设有四门课：

1.国画:

每月2次课，每次2个小时，一共6次课

课程时间：周六9:45-11:45am

开课时间：6月15号

学费：华社会员$30/次，非会员$35/次

学生要求：11岁以上。（5-10人/班）

欢迎单次交费试课，上课5次以上，学费可以打九折，并参加8月31号在华社举行的中国文化季作品展览。

艺术家介绍：

刘安平，海外华人艺术家协会和纽约民俗协会会员。自幼爱好诗词书画篆刻，曾向旅美画家顾乐夫先生学习传统国画。2004-2020任华社中文学校儿童绘画老师。近几年多次参加奥尔巴尼，萨拉托加和斯可耐克特迪市的联展及艺术节。今年三至四月被邀举办个人画展，五月入选奥尔巴尼艺术中心亚洲文化节联展。

一、通过这门课，学生可以掌握一些国画基础知识，对中国画有一个比较正确的认识，从绘画形式、特点、和理论上能把中国画和别的画种区分开来。如何欣赏国画的魅力，提高国画欣赏水平。

二、了解国画工具和材料的特点，学会使用中国画工具和材料。掌握基本笔法：学习如何运笔，学会如何用墨、如何控制水墨的浓淡干湿，如何调色配色用色。

三、学会基本构图：学习如何构图、布局，使画面更加和谐、美观。通过实践练习：每次课程让大家亲自动手，提升临摹能力。学会注意观察自然，通过学习国画，更能发现生活中随处可见的美，并可绘于纸上以抒胸意。

四、了解国画的诗书画印不可分的四大元素，文人画的渊源和作用，了解一些途径如何增加国学学识，并将自己学识爱好表现在画作中。

2.书法:

每月2次课，每次2个小时，一共6次课。

艺术家介绍：

王勇，自幼学习书法，跟从书法专业老师至高中毕业。此后一直自我学习和练习，已有40多年。学习过各种书体，近年专攻行书和草书。中学时曾获县书法比赛优秀奖，大学时获系和学校书法比赛三等奖。从2010年开始多次代表孔院和华社参加纽约首府地区的多元文化活动，展示书法艺术和中国文化。曾经在中文学校开设书法课，从去年一月起在华社开设每周一次的书法班。今年计划在纽约首府地区的图书馆举办系列书法展和讲座，讲座的题目是”from breath to brush “ 讲述书法不仅是一种艺术，而且是一种集中精神的有效方法，已及在心理健康方面的意义。目前已经完成了在Albany Public Library and Troy Public Library.

3.古琴（7弦琴）：

每周一次课。

课程时间：

小班课：周六11:45am-12:45pm（3-5人）：华社会员 $25/次，非会员$30/次

私教课: 华社会员$35/次，非会员$40/次 (可以和老师约周六其他时间）

艺术家介绍：

史文睿，中国琴会会员，江西省民族管弦乐学会会员，孔目湖琴会理事。本科毕业于华东交通大学音乐学器乐（古琴方向）与中文系双学位。作为首批硕士，毕业于美国巴德音乐学院 Master of arts in Chinese music and culture专业。曾任华东交通大学孔目湖国乐学院古琴专业老师。2013年起学习古琴，师承中央音乐学院博士生导师赵家珍教授。2017年荣获首届 “弘琴杯”优秀演奏奖，2018年赴加拿大参加首届中加艺术节暨国际邀请赛获专业组银奖； 2018年第二届 “弘琴杯”江西赛区金奖第一；2018年江西省首届民族器乐艺术展演大学专业组一等奖。2019年获第二届 “弘琴杯”（终选）青年A组金奖。

2020年被评为全国古琴教师等级考核评审官。

2022年被评为第三届 “弘琴杯”优秀指导老师。

2023年获第四届加坡古琴艺术节 “南风杯”国际古琴大赛优秀指导老师奖

4.茶艺:

CCC Summer of 2024 Traditional Chinese Art Immersion:

Chinese traditional art & culture has its own unique heritage and existence value. This summer CCC offer an experience for everyone to experience and learn traditional Chinese art and culture, with 4 featured classes.

1. Chinese painting:

2 classes per month, 2 hours each class, 6 classes in total.

Course time: Saturdays 9:45-11:45am

Tuition: CCC members $30/session, non members $35/session

Class open date: June 15th 2024

Student requirements: 11 years old and above. (5-10 people/class)

Single payment trial classes are welcome. 10% discount on the tuition fee will be offered to those who participate 5 classes and more, in addition, they can also participate in the Chinese Art & Culture Season art exhibition on August 31.

Artist bio:

Dr. Anping Liu holds a Ph.D. degree in economics and served as a principal economist for the State of New York Department of Public Service. He has also taught art for many years. Currently, Dr. Liu is a member of New York Folklore Society, Overseas Chinese Artists Association, and Saratoga Beekman Art District Organization. Additionally, he served as the vice president of Chinese Community Center in 2004-2005. He has participated in art fairs in the Capital District such as Albany Art Associates, Art in the Park and Beekman Street Art Fair in Saratoga, and Stockade Villagers' Outdoor Art Show in Schenectady. His artwork in a 2021 Albany Art Associates gallery was highly regarded by Times Union (click link to view the article). Dr. Liu's most recent individual exhibition is at Valley Artisans Market Gallery, Cambridge, New York. His paintings have been collected by many individuals, his work has also been accepted in Albany Center Art Gallery for AAPI Heritage month “Thread” exhibition until July 2024.

2. Traditional Calligraphy:

2 classes per month, 2 hours each class, 6 classes in total.

Course time: Saturdays 9:45-11:45am

Tuition: CCC members $25/session, non members $30/session

Class open date: June 22nd 2024

Student requirements: 11 years old and above. (6-12people/class)

Artist bio:

Richard Yong Wang, studied calligraphy since childhood, learned from professional calligraphers until high school graduation. After that I learned and practiced by myself. So far, it ’s over 40 years. I have learned all 6 calligraphy scripts (styles), but lately, I specialized in running script and Cursive script. In high school, I won the excellent award of the county calligraphy competition, and I won the third prize at the department and school calligraphy competition when I was in university. I have represented Confusion Academy and Chinese Community Center to attend multicultural events in capital region since 2010 to present calligraphy and traditional Chinese cultures. I also have taught calligraphy class in Chinese school before. I am holding a weekly calligraphy class in CCC since last January. In this year I started a project called from breath to brush” it ’s a series of Chinese Calligraphy exhibition and seminars in public libraries of capital region to show how people that not only calligraphy is an art, but also can use calligraphy as a tool of meditation to focus and relax mind. It can be a meaningful method to help people in mental health. so far I have completed exhibiting in Albany public library and Troy public library.

3. Gu Qin— Chinese 7-string Zither class

One class per week.

Course time: Saturdays 11:45am-12:45pm

Small class: (3-5 people): CCC members $25/session, non members $30,1 hour class.

Private lessons: CCC members $35/session, non members $40/session. 45 minutes class. (Can be arrange after small class on Saturdays)

Class open date: June 15th

Artist Bio:

Wenrui Shi, As one of the first masters graduated in the Master of Arts in Chinese Music and Culture program at the Bard College Conservatory of Music. At 15, she fell in love with the guqin and was guided by Professor Zhao Jiazhen. She studied gugin with Xiao Xiao at East China Jiaotong University. In 2018, She won silver prize in the professional group of the first China-Canada Arts Festival and International Invitation Competition, gold prize in the Jiangxi Region of the Second Hongqin Cup, and first prize in the professional group of the first Folk Instrumental Music Art Exhibition in Jiangxi Province. In the 2019 Second Hongqin Cup, she won the gold prize for the Youth A Group.

In 2022, she was awarded Outstanding Instructor of the Third Hongqin Cup. For The 4th Singapore Guqin Arts Festival "Nan Feng Bei" International Guqin Competition, she was awarded Outstanding Instructor. In addition, many of her students have won gold or silver medals.

4.Chinese Tea Ceremony:

There are 2 classes per month, 90 minutes each time, 6 classes in total.

Course time: Saturdays1:15pm-2:30pm

Tuition: CCC members $25/session, non members $30/session.

Class open date: June 22nd

Artist Bio:

Wei Qin, President of Chinese Community Center, studied tea ceremony in Shanghai. Her tea ceremony has been enjoyed by senators, media professionals and many Chinese and non Chinese individuals. The class will talk about tea culture, students will learn about white tea, green tea, Iron Goddess, Pu erh tea and others.

CCC Building Renovation Fundraising Campaign

The Chinese Community Center (CCC) was founded in 1973 and serves over 10,000 Chinese Americans in the Capital Region. Since its grand opening in 2006, generations of Chinese, Chinese Americans and non Chinese who are interested in Chinese language and culture have been celebrating and bonding in the current building located on 11 Avis Dr, Latham.

Post pandemic, CCC has evolved into one of the major multi-culture ambassadors in the Capital Region. During 2024 Lunar New Year, CCC performed 10 Lunar New Year and multi-culture events during the 2 months of the festival period, including 3 libraries ( Colonie, Guilderland, Clifton Park), 3 elementary school (Forts Ferry, Boght Hill, Woodland Hill Montessori), and 2 high schools (Albany High, Schenectady High) along with a Lunar New Year Art Exhibition.

In addition to its Sunday Chines School, CCC also operates 10 on going weekly activities and clubs: 3 dance clubs including (Folk dance, Square dance, Tai Chi Fa), Math club for grade K-10, Calligraphy class, Ping Pong Club, Body sculpture club, CCC choirs and CCC Peking Opera Academy. We also work closely with other local organizations including Festival of Nations, ICCR, Capital District Chamber of Commerce and APAPA. CCC received “Global Citizenship” award from ICCR in 2023.

CCC also celebrates most of the traditional Chinese holidays such as Lantern festival, Dragon Boat festival and Moon Cake Festival. With its growing number of members and its ongoing activities and events, CCC needs to conduct a major building renovation, so that we can better utilize the space for our growing needs that serve the thousands of people who participate in CCC activities and events in our building every year. The estimate to this project cost round up to $100,000. Our plan is to raise funds this year and complete the renovation project from June to August next summer.

Plan for Building renovation include:

• Remove four weight bearing columns and change them to iron beam

• Move Executive Office to the back corner, combine the current office space with the Hall space

• Change current ceiling/pipes/lighting design, raise ceiling up.

• Add a storage room, remove the half walls in children ’s area

• install lighting for art exhibition and performances.

CCC plans to apply for government funding at all levels. At the same time, CCC calls on all people to donate to the renovation project. Donation at any amount will be appreciated. Individuals, or couples who jointly donate $500 or more can be listed on the CCC’s donation wall forever.

华社翻修改造工程筹集善款

华社，即华人社区，为在美华人服务的非盈利机构。是华人们能够用自己的语言,自己的文化来团聚的地方. 华社在本地区51年，2006 年正式搬入本会址。18年来，一代一代的华人在此会址团聚并庆祝着自己的文化。

华社在新冠之后人气快速激增，新增各种常年运行的俱乐部包括：民族舞，广场舞，太极扇, 数学俱乐部, 形体训练班，乒乓球俱乐部，书法班, 麻将俱乐部 ,茶艺俱乐部，合唱团，少女打鼓队, 青年交响乐团。加上正在壮大的京剧学校，新成立的退休俱乐部等，一片繁荣景象。华社的龙年春晚在Egg票全部售完，参加的人有45%是非华裔，影响深远。请看视频回放：https://youtu.be/lfqGCb0cjBg。

所有中小型的活动也都在华社进行，如元宵晚会，中秋晚会，各种座谈会，志愿者联欢会等等。目前华社大厅的构造已经难以满足现有的参加活动的人数需求。

为了更好的为大家服务，华社启动翻修工程，计划去掉大厅的四根承重柱子，木梁改换钢梁；将大厅的会长办公室移到后面的角落，给大厅腾出空间；尽量提升目前的吊顶; 去掉儿童区的半隔断；更换顶灯用来展示艺术品和演出。工程总花费预计为$100,000. 计划是今年筹款，明年夏天6-8月份完成翻修工程。

华社已经着手申请各级政府拨款，同时也号召所有华侨华裔，为华社翻修工程捐款，尽自己的力量，造福大众。捐款数额无论大小，都是在我华社尽自己的力量。

New Year's painting (Chinese:年画) emerged in Song Dynasty (960-1279) and took shaped and prevailed in Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Art work from a millennium ancient town in Tianjin Yangliuqing Town (Chinese:杨柳青镇) , an old timer in making of New Year Paintings with a long history. Even today, there are about two fifths of the residents in the town still operate this painting business. Hailed as a treasure of traditional Chinese folk art as well as the first of the Four Chinese Wood Engraving New Year's Paintings, Yangliuqing New Year's Painting boasts for its distinctive art features, wide range of subjects, rich and complicated content and auspicious implied meaning.

华社龙年春节杨柳青画展及开幕式

龙行龘龘，百福骈瑞--杨柳青年画迎春画展将于2024年2月2日在华社拉开序幕。

杨柳青年画，是中国天津著名的民间木版年画。起源于天津市西青区杨柳青镇，产生于中国明代崇祯年间（1628-1644），继承了宋、元绘画的传统，吸收了明代木刻版画、工艺美术、戏剧舞台的形式，采用木版套印和手工彩绘相结合的方法，创立了鲜明活泼、喜气吉祥的独特风格。其作品具有笔法细腻、人物秀丽、色彩明艳、内容丰富、形式多样等特点。其技艺传承千年，深深扎根于中华文化的土壤之中。并于2006年5月20日，经国务院批准列入第一批国家级非物质文化遗产名录。

杨柳青年画以其独特的艺术风格和历史文化价值，成为了中华文化的重要代表之一。

在开幕式现场，同时还有琵琶，古筝，笛子等民乐演奏和传统茶艺展示表演，在袅袅琴音中，品茗赏画，沉浸式体验中国传统文化的悠远的魅力，让海外同胞们在欢度传统佳节日，有着满满的“天涯共此时”的故园情怀。

在过程中，华社更是精心准备了“寻龙祈福”“填色作画〞等欢乐喜庆的现场活动，欢迎父母们带孩子参加。届时将有天津文化商会提供的书画家亲笔手书的<福><龙>作品，做为活动的奖品礼品，为大家助兴。画展开幕式时间: 2月2号星期五晚上5:30-7:30点.

Chinese Community Center Peking Academy student registration open（Sponsored by The Art Center of the Capital Region ）：

Peking Opera as a unique form of art was established over 230 years ago by Emperor Qianlong and has been cherished in mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong ever since. The performances fell into two main categories – “wen”, or civil theater, which focused on love, marriage and other civilian concerns, and “wu", or military theater, which revolved around the theme of war and was known for featuring thrilling acrobatic feats. Traditionally female are not allowed on stage, nowadays roles can be played by anyone.

CCC Peking Opera Academy was established in March 2023. Since then our group has performed in CCC 50th Anniversary Gala, which was reported upon by various TV stations and The Times Union. This year the first semester program is being kindly sponsored by The Art Center of the Capital Region.

Teacher Linghui Tu is a Chinese National Tier-One Performer. She has won the 4th Plum Blossom Award and the 1st Wenhua Performance Award, the highest level award in Chinese Theatre in China. She is a professor of the National Academy of Chinese Theater Arts and served as the director of the Operative Art Education Centre and Continuing Education Department. She has studied and performed Chinese opera for 50 years in various countries. Tu has also directed Chinese operas, among which two have been awarded Class-One Performance Awards. She is a teacher in the Center for Theater Arts Collaboration at Binghamton University and participated on tours and other cultural activities. She graciously accepted the invitation of the Chinese Community Center of the Capital Region and is willing to drive long distance once every week to come here over to teach.

Students will be welcome to choose the program that fits their interests. Tuition can be paid monthly at the beginning of the month. For those who want to enjoy family package discount, tuition needs to be paid by the beginning of semester in full. For all packages though, the first 2 weeks of this semester can serve as a trial period by paying single weeks tuition at the beginning of each class.

Payment by check only made out to_Chinese Community Center, with remark Peking Opera, no cash or credit card. There will be no more than 10 position per class. Registration deadline is Oct 10th.

Announcing special rate for college students: Posture and Movement class $20/week/person, for every college students including non CCC members.

There are 2 semesters this year, accompanied by 3 performances: mid-term, Chinese New Year, end- of-the-year:

2. Posture & Movement training: through long sleeve costumes and fan movements training, learning elegant and gracious movements required by Peking Opera.

Focus on 3 type of Peking Opera Characters : Lao Sheng (Gentleman), Lao Dan, (Senior female), Hua Lian (male Judges & Generals). Vocal and posture training included, all ages are welcome.

Location: Chinese Community Center (11 Avis Dr, Latham 12110)

Tuition: $35/week for CCC members, $40/week for members.

Classes for Children and teens:(5-15 years)

1: Peking Opera Foundation training: Similar to gymnastics and Kung fu, part of the Peking Opera performance require flexibility and strength, as well combat skills using wooden spears and sticks. Children will receive training in those aspects, as well as vocal skills for the singing part.

Time: Saturdays 1:45-3:20pm (100mins)

Location: Chinese Martial Art Academy ( 3 Johnson Rd, Latham, 12110)

Tuition: $38/week for CCC members, $45/week for non members

2: Peking Opera Wu Sheng Character training: Suitable for teens and children who already have Kungfu foundations, train for flexibility, fighting skills, No singing involved.

The CCC is making changes to the membership fee starting 6/1/2023:

1. Starting from now until 8/31/23, the membership renewal fees (including those for family, individual, and student) will be unchanged.

2. From 6/1/2023, all members, old or new, will be able to get the 10% discount at the 17 local businesses.

3. Starting from 9/1/23, the membership fees for renewals and new enrollments will be $60 per family, $45 per individual, $30 per student. The 5-year membership fee will be unchanged.

This year, the annual celebration will be held at the SUNY Performing Arts Center at 2:30 pm, January 22nd, 2023 with free parking. 尊敬的华人社区朋友们：

祝大家新年快乐！

我们谨代表纽约首府华社及中文学校的全体工作人员向大家致以最真诚的问候和祝福，同时也向大家简要汇报最近一年多来的工作。

自2020年3月份始，新冠疫情阴霾黯黯，极大增加了开展各项工作的难度，但我们全体志愿者牢记服务社区的初衷，厉兵秣马，砥砺前行。

抗疫初期，口罩和防护服等PPE急缺，我们审时度势，在社区志愿者的协助下，短短几周内募捐到抗疫善款6万余元，并快速从不同渠道采购到医疗防护具12万余件捐献到本地多个医疗机构、养老中心、老兵俱乐部、超市、餐馆等。这个过程中华人社区体现出来的共情、协作精神令人非常敬佩和感动：志愿者们分组讨论采购护具的渠道、质量、价格、周期，争取最大化地利用珍贵善款并以最快速度运送至急需的抗疫一线，发挥这些护具的最大效用。这一系列行动展示了华人关心社区，敢于担当，勇于奉献的精神面貌，为华人下一代树立了良好的榜样。

虽有疫情阻挡，华社志愿者们在保障安全的前提下尽量保障各项社区活动有序进行。例如2020、2021两年皆参加万国节（FON - Festival of Nations）的所有三项（才艺，美食，Miss FON竞赛）节目，延续了华人社区作为这一活动的主要参与者传统。2021牛年线上春晚为70多个家庭送去了充满欢声笑语的浓浓节日气氛。还有许多其他活动在筹备之后，由于疫情反复不得不取消，例如2021年夏季烧烤大会，志愿者们实地考察了首府周边近十处公园场地并预定了其中之一，但却由于2021年8月份第二波疫情高峰来袭而取消，虽有遗憾，但并不沮丧，因为保障社区的健康安全而舍弃所付出的时间精力是值得的。

团结社区，同仇敌忾。针对仇恨亚裔犯罪，我们联系本地社区成员接受Times Union记者采访，参加电台节目等，让华人社区的声音通过报纸，广播等形式被更多人听到。同时邀请学者和社区成员一起交流华裔移民历史，讨论现状。在2021年3月22日Albany “Stop Asian Hate” rally的活动中，许多志愿者积极响应，制作了三百多面标语牌，带到游行现场分发，壮大了此次活动的声势。除了喊出我们的声音，也需准备必要的知识和技能保护自己，因此在Clifton Park Town Supervisor的帮助下，Saratoga County警长和他的助手们为社区举办了一期安全防护法律法规培训以及两期自我防护格斗技巧培训。

与此同时，中文学校在校董事会、校长、PTA领导下，在所有老师和家长的积极协助下，有效应对疫情管控需求所带来的挑战，2020年三月份疫情爆发初期，第一时间将线下课程转为线上授课，尽力保障授课质量和学生的学习进度。在莫琳校长的领导下，中文学校2020-21学年在被迫改为全线上授课的情况下，依然开展了各项课程共41门，包括22个中文课班级和19个兴趣班，招收学生超过230名。各项教学任务按计划实施并于学年末顺利完成，包括成功组织了AP网考，YCT网考和笔试。学校在2020-21学年克服种种困难将以往各项活动搬到网上，成功举办了网上的讲故事比赛，网络晚会以及参加2020新年中文文化大乐园冬令营活动等。2021-22学年，中文学校与Shaker Middle School合作，恢复了线下授课，提供了总共49门课程和俱乐部活动，吸引了总共288名学生和家长回归中文学校的实体教学授课和活动。在刚刚结束的2021秋季学期，在行政团队和PTA团队的密切配合和精心组织下，中文学校成功举办了讲故事比赛和圣诞新年演出，通过学生，家长和教职员工们的积极参与，持续在纽约首府华人社区里发挥着可观的影响力。在疫情不断出现反复的当下，中文学校的教师团队，行政团队和PTA团队密切配合，合理而有效地应对着各项挑战和处理各种风险，保证实体课教学和线下活动得以顺利进行。

一路行来并非坦途，我们却时刻被鼓舞着，因为有无数社区志愿者的热心支持，有许多商家的慷慨赞助，有社区所有成员的关心，我们有信心遇山开路，逢水架桥，勇往直前。

2022虎年春晚定于1月30日在SUNY Albany PAC举行，正在紧张筹备中，欢迎大家关注！

自从去年新冠疫情爆发以来，全美发生了3千多起针对亚裔的暴力

事件和仇恨犯罪，这些暴力行为直接威胁着我们的生存，威胁着我

们的家庭生活和社区安宁。亚特兰大市的3起枪击案，夺去了8个无

辜的生命。我们再不能像无助的猎物任人宰割，更不能让我们的孩

子过着担惊受怕的日子。此时此刻，我们的社区，千百个华人家庭

，应该齐心齐力，团结一致，勇敢地走出被歧视的阴影，为捍卫自

身的平等权益而共同奋斗。

Ron Kim 律师发起的“制止仇恨亚裔”集会，得到了纽约首府地区各

亚太裔社区的积极响应和广泛支持。在此，华社号召所有的家庭和

亲朋好友踊跃参加这次意义非凡的集会，让社会听到我们的呼声，

The highly anticipated event this summer has been the CCC annual picnic at the YMCA Adventure Camp, which was held on August 18, with over 300 people in attendance. The annual picnic is an event for members and non-members alike to meet new friends, to catch up with old friends, to be together to enjoy a wonderful day in fresh outdoor air, or just a chance to get some exercise, or perhaps even to gain professional networking opportunities.

The weather forecast had not been good the night before, and there were several heavy showers in the early morning. However by 10: 30, bracing the constant drizzles, all the passionate, hard working, and high spirited volunteers had arrived and started getting ready for the event. As a final touch, miraculously the rain started to die down around 11:45 and gradually a nice clear sky appeared and a gentle wind started to permeate the beautiful camp.

The lunch staff led by Sanglee Wong had ordered enough food with varieties to satisfy everyone’s discerning palate. The local Chinese restaurant the Pebbles even set up a small cookery on site to offer free street foods such as fried banana! Before the delicious lunch was served the YMCA staff welcomed us. This year is the second year CCC held the annual picnic at the YMCA facility and both parties were grateful for the successful cooperation so far. The event reached the climax with the raffle drawing. There were 33 lucky winners for magnificent raffle prizes offered by supporting local merchants, including many gift cards valued more than $100! It is worth mention that several local merchants and nonprofit institutions set up booths as a way of supporting this event. All together they donated $4000 towards the 2018 CCC picnic. Kudos is due to the picnic fundraising team led by Xiaoqing Zhang and Yue Lei.

The new CCC President Yan Wang took the opportunity to introduce her team members, volunteers and the Board Chair Lee-Hua Miaw. A ceremony was also held for the three 2018 Outstanding Service Awards recipients- Dayu Huang, Shaopeng Liu and Xufeng Sun, many Outstanding Service Award recipients and many Service Award recipients. Last but not the least; Congressman Paul Tonko made a brief remark to update the issues facing the congress and issues of concern to the immigrant communities.

After the lunch and the official programs, happy adults and lively young children scattered away to various sports courts and activities and laughter filled the entire camp site. The YMCA Adventure Camp is a vast facility with abundance of greenery. It is equipped with athletic fields, basket courts, tennis courts, beach volleyball, ga-ga ball pit, playground, bounce house, rock wall, zip-line, swimming pool, paddle boats and archery range, with the play area, archery range, beach volleyball, ga-ga ball, bounce horse, rock wall and tennis courts being CCC families’ favorites. In a nutshell the Camp is a facility for all ages. To be even more inclusive our Executive Team added the Zumba Dance and a professional photo booth to take free headshots and family pictures. A team of professional photographers and videographers documented the entire event.

The picnic camp ended at 5:30 and together we had a memorable, exciting and fun time spent with families, friends and new acquaintances. All of us look forward to being a part of the 2019 CCC picnic again, and we invite you to join us in 2019 if we missed you this year.

June 28th Board Meeting of CCC

The board meeting took place on Thursday 28^th June 2018 at CCC. The meeting started with outstanding items from the previous meeting that needed to be updated or discussed further. Ex-CCC president Dayu Huang reported events held recently and some items concerning the CCC finance. Xufeng Sun, the Chinese School Council Chair, motioned to approve the “School Investment Policy”, which had been deliberated in the last two board meetings. The School Investment Policy aims to invest some school fund in a conservative and balanced allocation to keep up inflation in the next seven years. The investment policy was unanimously approved. Building Manager Mary Chen of FDMC reported building revenue and expenses. Controller Zhengyu Pang gave some suggestions to CCC accounts as well as the “CCC Investment Policy” and went over major issues we had encountered during the past year and would discuss them with newly elected treasurer Le Zhang to avoid potential issues in the future. After that, Lee-Hua Miaw motioned to vote on CCC Distinguished Service Award candidates Dayu Huang and Xufeng Sun. Both candidates were approved.

The meeting also finished the handover ceremony of the ex- and the new President and board members at CCC. Our new CCC President is Yan Wang. New board members are Lee-Hua Miaw, Zhengyu Pang, Jian Xu, Wang Zheng, Haiting Wang, Dan Wu, Li Zhang, Daisy Lin, Yang Wang, Xiaoqing Zhang, Ling Bi, Xiaolan Rong, Le Zhang, Yue Lei, Yimeng Yin ( as an Executive Team staff), Xufeng Sun, Jie Wang, Peng Chen, Luna Zhang, Dawei Liu, Zhanpan Zhang, Mary Chen and Pengbo Sun (as a FDMC staff). The Ex-CCC president Dayu Huang officially handed over the Seal of CCC to the new CCC president Yan Wang. Yan and her new executive team members gave brief self-introduction and were welcomed by all attendees. The 2018-2019 board members also elected Lee-hua Miaw as the board chair and Zhengyu Pang as the vice board chair for the current term which starts on July 1^st, 2018.

At the end of the meeting, we formed executive committee, education committee, FDMC, finance committee, audit committee, Bylaws amendment/revision committee, nomination committee and fundraising committee. Finally, Yue Lei was appointed as the CCC Database Director to be in charge of CCC database.

The meeting officially ended at a very positive note.

The event "Amazing China: New Spectacular" featured Peking Opera, Chinese vocal, lute solo, Mezzo- Soprano Solo, flute Solo, Chinese martial arts, chorus and dance, performed by professional performers from the National Academy of Chinese Theater Arts, Confucius Institute of Chinese Opera at Binghamton University, and performers from the local Chinese community.

The event is organized by the Confucius Institute for China's Culture and the Economy of University at Albany and the Chinese Community Center of Capital District of New York, with General Electric as the main sponsor.

Dear families,

Hope you all had a successful fall term. Time flies by. Now we are planning our winter term for 2016!

Our new courses are elementary math class, ELA class and Chinese class.

The math class is for grade 3-5 students. As many of you may know, New York State adopted Common Core Standards for Math and ELA which are much more challenging than the previous curriculum. Many school districts track the test results as a measurement starting from 3rd grade to place students in accelerated or honor courses when they are older. So it is very important for your child to achieve a higher score. Our math class aims to help your child to prepare for this state exam in early April 2016.

Our Elementary English Writing class holds the same goal to prepare students for Common Core Exam.

As usual, our program also includes drawing and Chinese painting class and SAT preparation class.

Based on some parents request, we will open a Chinese class.

Our enrichment program will begin on Saturday, January 16th in CCC building at 11 Avis Dr in Latham. We have a team of highly qualified professionals.

新增课程包括小学数学班，英语班及中文班。

数学班是针对3-5年级的学生。相信大家都了解纽约州已经启用COMMON CORE这一美国教育部颁发的国家标准。实行这一标准后，纽约州的统一考试比从前难度增加了很多，而很多学区都是采用州统考结果来对高年级学生进行分班，并常常将小学的统考成绩作为参考。因此，请大家务必重视此考试。我们新设的小学3-5年级数学班正是为此作准备。

同样，小学英语写作班也是为COMMON CORE 的ELA 考试作准备的。

Brian is a member of the Committee of 100, a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, and a former president of the Southern California Chinese Lawyers Association (“SCCLA”), the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (“NAPABA), and the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank. Brian was recognized by Lawdragon magazine as one of America’s 500 top attorneys. Brian has been honored by SCCLA with its Lifetime Achievement Award for his dedication to the Asian Pacific American community. He has also received NAPABA’s Trailblazer Award. Brian obtained his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Southern California。

You are sincerely invited to 2015 CCC Picnic, one of the largest Chinese gathering activity in NY
capital region. This is also a great opportunity to renew your CCC membership or join the CCC. The following are the detailed information:

Place: Elm Avenue Park (261 Elm Avenue, Delmar NY 12054), Pavillion-Large

Activities: BBQ, Sports, Meeting and Making Friends, Sightseeing and many other ad-hoc activities

10:00: Volunteers arrive

11:00: Registration start

12:00: Lunch start

1:00: Speaking from CCC and other organizations

1:30: Raffle drawing

2:00: free activities

What you need to do?

Bring your food to share (1 dish = 1 ticket)
Pay 5$ per ticket in BBQ place if you are over 6 years old and under 60 years old
