Chinese Language School

The Chinese Language School was founded in 1972. Hundreds of graduates learned to appreciate their Chinese heritage for life and gained a solid foundation for courses in Asian Studies in colleges. The current student enrollment is 310. There are 29 language classes for 3 year olds to adults. 19% of our students are Americans and adopted children who do not speak Chinese at home.

The Language School rents 30 classrooms, gym and cafeteria at Shaker Junior High School in Latham for three hours a week on Sundays during the regular school year. Students learn language, history and literature in the first two hours. Chinese is taught in Mandarin. The third hour is for cultural classes. Ten classes are offered. The students may choose to enroll in folk dance, drawing, chess, or Tae Kwon Do.
