A Report by Xuli Zong (5/21/01)

The annual culture and fund-raising event Festival of Nations at Schenectady Museum was held from 10am to 6pm on May 12, 2001. People, who attended the festival, enjoyed a great and fun day of food, on-stage performance, arts and crafts show and sale. Even the afternoon thunder and rain would not discourage people, who enjoyed the event, much. Schenectady Museum and People representing many nations have contributed the event. The Chinese Community Center (CCC) was actively involved in the activities. Many CCC members have helped in the event. We represented our community and China in this important local community event, and did something not for ourselves but for each and every Chinese American living in the Capital District of New York.

A tent for CCC booth was set up long before the event started. Hongyu Wang, Raymond Ma, Mary Chen, and Xuli Zong worked together to put up and decorated the tent. Mary Chen, Juliana Shei, Ting-Ting Wang, and others baked the cakes/cookies overnight for the fund-raising activity. Mary Chen spent a lot of time and made her tireless efforts in helping to organizing our participation for the event. Brenda Wu and Su Jing were leading the effort for a lovely performance of children dance. Juliana Shei organized arts and crafts show and sale while Joan Ma was doing the Chinese calligraphy for the fund-raising. Many people have attended the CCC booth for food sale. Ming Ting has helped to distribute tickets to CCC dance performers and their families. Although I can not name all the people who have helped in the event, all your help for a successful event is appreciated.
