Join us at the YPC Career Seminar on Saturday, April 25, 2009 to shine some light on "How to find a job under the tough economy?" YPC presents distinguished speakers from all walks of life. The forum will give you plenty of chances to ask all those burning questions. You will also have opportunities to interface with mentors from industrial and/or academic professionals.

Career Development Workshop (Apr. ’09) – We plan to organize a workshop by a panel of speakers to sharing their experiences on job hunting and career developments, which should benefit both students and professionals. The workshop include
  • Resume critique
  • Job hunting/interview skills
  • Soft skills and growth in corporate American culture
  • Networking session

  • Mentoring program (Year Around) – We propose the mentoring program to partner students with professionals, and junior professionals with senior ones. It is designed to establish a one-to-one/small group mentoring relationship, enabling in-depth discussions and conversations between two parties on the topics that the junior ones find interests in.

    Finance Workshop (Oct. ’09) – We plan to invite some financial advisors to provide us some insight analysis about the current financial and economic crisis as well as the suggestions on what money saving and investment actions we could take to mitigate our financial risks. The topics could include
  • Saving and investment strategies
  • House buying tips
  • Question and answer session
  • Ski
  • Ski trips (Mar. ’09, Feb. ‘10)
  • Ski lessons (Jan. ’10)

  • Hiking
  • Mountain trail hiking (May. ‘09)
  • Autumn foliage trip (Oct. ‘09)
  • Hiking club (Spring, Summer, Autumn ‘09) – formed by YPC members who are fascinated by hiking,and we can organize the hiking events in a regular basis.

  • Golf
  • Golf courses (June. ‘09)
  • Golf club (Summer ‘09) – same as Hiking club.

  • Tennis
  • Tennis courses (June. ‘09)
  • Tennis club (Summer ‘09) – same as Hiking club.

  • Paintball (May. ‘09) – a fun game in which players eliminate opponents by hitting them with pellets containing paint. We plan to hold this event for our members with discount price.

    BBQ party at state park (July. ‘09) – this could be a joint event with RPI and SUNY CSSAs.

    Whitewater rafting (Aug. ‘09) – a challenging but extremely fun activity utilizing a raft to navigate a river. Again, we aim at getting a group of people going with discount price.

    Indoor rock climbing (Sept. ‘09) – an interesting game that allows the players to perform rock climbing on artificial structures indoor and gain the experience of real outdoor rock climbing with much more reduced risks.

    Happy hours (Year Round) – people do get stressed out by daily work, and we need a way to free our pressure. Let’s have the regular happy social hour sessions, where people could meet, chat, enjoy good food, drink, and have fun together.

    Dances – We are going to have at least two series of dancing classes, taught by the professional dancing mentor.
  • Ballroom/Latin dance classes (Spring and Autumn ‘09)
  • Dancing at pubs – for the group of dancing fans, we will form the dancing club and call for dancing pub nights in a regular basis.

  • Game/Karaoke nights (once each quarter) – We will hold this game and karaoke nights once each quarter at CCC building, where people can play all sorts of fun board games and demo your KTV star potentials.

    Karaoke competition (Nov. ‘09) – a joint event between CCC and YPC, to identify who is the real singing star around Capital Region.

    CCC Chinese New Year Celebration (Jan. ‘10) – We plan to call for helps from YPC members to demonstrate the following programs at CCC New Year Celebration at Egg.
  • Dragon dance
  • Ballroom dance – we learned the dances through dancing classes, and now it’s the time to show it off.
  • Pop song solos - the singing king and queen recognized from our Karaoke competition are going to bring us their beautiful songs on stage at Egg.


  • Volunteering work/Community service (Spring, Summer ‘09) – joint events with CCC. We live in the Capital region, we like this area, and we benefit from it. There are certainly lots of things we could perform to contribute back to our community. Help others, help our community, and essentially we help ourselves to be a better person.
