Message from CCC President, October 1st 2009
At the start of a new executive term, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate and welcome our well-staffed-fully-energized 2009-2010 CCC executive team. As a working group, we are well integrated and truly look forward to serving the community to our best.
This 8-person team is consisted of four vice presidents, two secretaries, a treasurer, and a president. VP of Operation, Min Huang, is a Chinese School veteran and thus he serves as a coordinator between the school and executive team. VP of Special Events, David (Yun) Dai, is a talented professor, writer, and singer; so he is naturally designated as a mastermind for the popular Mid-Autumn Festival and Chinese New Year Celebrations. VP of Communication and Advancement, James (Zhaohui) Yang, is a professional IT consultant and does have countless friends everywhere; so he is well-positioned to be CCC’s representative before local businesses, government agencies, and media outlets. VP of Member Services, Ting Yu, leads CCC’s Young Professional Club, and thus will take charge of various seminars, trips, newsletter delivery, and many other important services to CCC members. Secretary Roger (Jin) Cao, takes the torch of database management and CCC Infoline services and is working very hard to ensure you are constantly and promptly informed with community news and updates. Secretary Renge Li, is a graduating doctoral student at RPI and he serves as a natural bridge to the college community. Renge has a dedicated passion and strong fellowship connected to China’s national sport --- table tennis; so he is a driving force behind the coming USATT-Sanctioned 2-Star Table Tennis Tournament (Oct 10, 2009) sponsored by CCC. The last but not the least, CCC Treasurer, Xiaowu Jiang, who is in charge of the finance of our organization and whose tireless efforts underline the success of all CCC events and activities.
Well, with this excellent team, our new term has been rolling out in a very exciting way. In the past quarter, we had organized many meaningful and interesting events. These include a fundraising event for Taiwan Typhoon Relief which landed more than $10,000 and has caught a lot of media attention in the capital region, a full bus load NYC ocean fishing trip which angled no fish but numerous joyful moments, an annual community BBQ and picnic that finished 200 buns, 300 burgers, and 400 wings in one hour. Sounds good? Missed any good moments? Do not worry. More are coming! In the rest of the year, there will be many other interesting CCC events coming, such as the Table Tennis Tournament and the Mid-autumn Festival (Oct 10), the annual hiking trip (mid Oct), Thanksgiving Party (Nov), and Christmas Party (Dec). Please stay tuned!
