Message from CCC President, January 1st 2009

It is holiday season, again! Please allow me to wish all of you a happy, healthy holiday and a productive and prosperous new year of 2010.

Looking back in the past three months, CCC successfully organized several pleasing and interesting programs. The celebration of Mid-Autumn Festival and the First USATT-Sanctioned “CCC ” Table Tennis Tournament was a huge splash in our community and in the national table tennis arena as well. With generous help from RPI Chinese Students and Scholars Association and the US Association of Table Tennis, CCC was able to put forth an eye-opening combination of a traditional holiday party and a professional tournament of China’s national sport --- Ping Pong. In return, CCC was also put forward onto a shinny large stage by the small Ping Pong ball. This event attracted hundreds of spectators and very strong media interests in the capital region and made our name again in several local news agencies. Here, I would like to thank all the volunteers for their tireless work and wonderful ideas, especially CCC Secretary Renge Li who was the mastermind behind the show and the Asian Food Market whose generosity made the event feasible financially.

Another accomplishment in the past quarter was a successful launch of CCC new website. The redesigned website supports many neat features and will significantly boost communications within our community as well as between CCC and the general public. If you have not seen it yet, please log onto www.cccalbany.organd check out our brand new beautiful virtual community center. CCC VP Zhaohui Yang and his IT team spent countless hours of volunteering work on the project and delivered such a fabulous platform for our community. Big thanks to Zhaohui and his team!

In the club side, two new clubs were created this year so far and they are both doing great! CCC board member, Renhua Song, initiated a favored drum club. The CCC Drum Club has already nicely represented the community at this year’s Festival of Nations and harvested rounds of applauds during the show. Also thankful to Joy Cheung and her team, CCC Singles Club was born and quickly becoming into a popular place for those who are looking to meet new friends and develop relations within the community. In order to encourage club activities and participation, CCC board is working on a set of new club-funding rules that will allow members to specify donations to support their interested clubs. We will report you more details before next year’s donation session.

The last but not the least is our continuing efforts on the preparation of the annual Chinese New Year Celebration Party. This year’s celebration (Year of Tiger) has been scheduled in the evening of Feb 13, 2010 (6pm) at the Egg Theater. Program Director Chunyuan Zhang and CCC VP Yun Dai are working with full steam to present another holiday feast to all of us. A little news leak: there will be some WORLD-CLASS performance this year.  Please stay tuned on this once-a-year fabulous show. We guarantee you love it!
