Message from CCC President, April 1st, 2008

     In the past three months, the focus of the CCC was the Spring Festival that was held on Feb. 2, 2008. The Spring Festival is the grand celebration of the Chinese Community. It was different from other years; the 2008 Spring Festival consisted of the celebration in the Egg Theater and the Dinner at the Capital and Empire Buffet restaurants. There were almost a thousand CCC members and guests who enjoyed the great show starting at 1 PM. It was so attractive of the performance of the CCC members and invited Peking Opera artists (from Philadelphia) that there was nobody quitting in the three-hour show.

      I received a lot of congratulations from our members who commented that the show was almost a professional one. I would like to on behalf of the CCC thank all the actors/actress and the volunteers who helped to organize this great event. Your great work has promoted the Chinese Culture and brought honor to the local Chinese. After the celebration, we have received invitations from many schools, libraries and other communities to present our programs. Specifically, I would like to thank Xiaoming Li, Hua Wang, and Yehong Qian (program directors), Mingxia Wang, Yi Chen and Chongguang Zhang (stage and program design),  Yi Chen (stage management), Chunyuan Zhang (opening ceremony and many dancing programs), Huqiu Zhang and Xinhua Liu (dancing programs),  Xuting Zhu, Hongyi Zhou, and Aiqi Dong (host/hostess), Guoping Fei (script), Zhengyan Wang (host/hostess coach), Yiping Wu (chorus director), Mingming Hsia (music editor), Zhaohui Yang (lighting management), Yun Zou, Zhengyu Pang, Huageng Lou , Liangdong Chu, and  Peizhen Xu (photograph and video), Shanling Wu, Manli Chen, and Le Yan (food and drink).
The Key Bank sponsored the dinner at the Capital Buffet. A workshop was organized with the great Peking Opera performers from Philadephia. Together with the local talents, the great artists performed famous Peking Opera. The Citizens Bank sponsored the dinner at the Empire Buffet. Many of the CCC members enjoyed the Karaoke. There were totally about 400 members who had a great night together. I would like specially thank Joy Chung who started contacting the Key Bank, Anping Liu to organize the Peking Opera workshop, Minming Xia to set up music equipment, Minxia Wang and Yi Chen to set up restaurant for the celebration. Shuxian Yu, Jianhong Sun, Kuiyang Lou, and Xinggang Bai helped in many aspects the preparation of the Spring Festival celebration. There were many other CCC volunteers, especially the actor/actress, families and parents of the kid’s actor/actress, who contributed without reservation to the great events. Thank you so much.
     Spring is right at the corner. The best season of the Albany area is coming. The CCC will organize many events for the members. There will be the CCC Appreciation Day for the donors, the competition of badminton and Ping-Pong, Youth Concert, TVBS Auction, Dragon Boat Festival, and he seminar of college application and financial planning.
It is also the time to start preparing for the election for the next CCC executive team. Being part of the team is a great opportunity to unitize your talent and contribute to our community. Please help the CCC identify and recommend the great talents who will lead us to a more beautiful community.
过去三个月华社的重头戏就是筹备与举办二月二日的春节庆祝活动，这一华人社区每年一度的盛会。与往年不同的是，今年的春节庆祝活动由在蛋型剧场举办的联欢会和在Capital和Empire Buffet举办的春节聚餐两部分组成。下午一点，联欢会准时开始，近千名华社会员与来宾欢聚一堂，欣赏了由华社会员和来自费城的京剧表演艺术家表演的精彩节目，在长达三个小时的表演过程中，没有一个观众中途退场，可见节目的精彩程度。会后，许多人向我们表示祝贺，盛赞这是一场具有专业水准的精彩演出。详细的有关演出的报道请见本期杨朝晖的文章。在这里，我代表华社向为这场联欢会做出贡献的所有演职员，以及台前幕后的工作人员表示衷心的感谢。你们的精彩表现为所有居住在这里的华人争了光，为促进中华民族优秀文化的传播做出了重要贡献。晚会以后众多校区，图书馆和其它社区邀请华社演出节目就充分说明了这一点。特别地，要感谢晚会导演李小鸣，王华和钱业红，舞台和节目单设计王明侠，陈怡和张重光，舞台监督陈怡，开幕式以及多个舞蹈节目的编导张春园老师，舞蹈编导张沪秋和刘新华老师，主持人朱翊婷，周宏毅和董媛齐，撰稿费国平和主持人指导王争艳，合唱指挥吴贻平，音乐编辑夏铭民，灯光杨朝晖，摄影摄像邹昀，庞正宇，罗华耿，诸亮东和许佩珍，以及为大家提供点心和饮料的乔焕程，吴山林，陈曼立和晏乐。当天的另一场活动是华社春节餐会。在Capital Buffet举办的餐会有Key Bank赞助，并邀请来自费城的京剧表演艺术家做了精彩的讲座，并与当地票友一起表演了京剧名段。在Empire Buffet举办的餐会由Citizens Bank赞助，华社的文艺爱好者纷纷上场，一展歌喉。近四百名华社会员在一起度过了一个快乐的晚上。
