The Advantage of Giving Securities

• You are entitled to a federal income tax charitable deduction of you file an itemized return. Many state income tax laws also allow for a charitable tax deduction.
• If the donated items have been held long-term (twelve months or longer), you may claim a deduction for their full fair market value.
• When appreciated securities are donated, you avoid paying tax on the capital gain.

 
The procedure is simple:
 

1. Contact your brokerage or stockholder services. Complete a stock transfer form to transfer your ownership of stock to " Chinese Community Center of Capital District of New York".
    
2. Inform the CCC Treasurer (11 Avis Drive, Latham, NY 12110, telephone: 783-2163) the shares and date of the transfer.

GE Matching Gift Program

If you are a GE Employee, GE will match your donation dollar for dollar when you donate to the Chinese Community Center. You will double your contribution by following the simple steps listed below. 1. Make your donation to CCC. Please indicate that your donation is eligible for GE matching fund. 2. Call GE Fund Matching Gift Center at 1-800-462-8244. You will need the following information to request matching gift:

• Your social security number
• Zip code of CCC: 12110
• Date donation was made
• Amount of donation ____________ (must be >$25 to request a match)

 
SEFA, United Way for New York State Employees

NYS employees are strongly encouraged to direct their donations to CCC through the annual United Way campaign through "contributor's choice" option. If you do not specify, your contribution will be pooled into the general fund and United Way will decide the benefiting organization for you.
The organization number for CCC is #50-314 for United Way of Northeastern New York, and #68-100 through United Way of Schenectady County.
United Way Donations from Non-NYS Workers

GE employees are strongly encouraged by their management to contribute to the charity through the annual United Way campaign. As a contributor, you have two options: to contribute to the United Way's general fund, or to contribute to the organization of his/her own choice through "contributor's choice" option. If you do not specify, your contribution will be pooled into the general fund and someone else will decide the benefiting organization for you.
Alternately, you can specify that your contributions go to CCC by filling out the donation form with the following information . If you have forgotten to direct your donation to CCC, you can fill out the form and submit it any time during the year.
